Measure more than width and height

Width and height are only the start. Headroom, side room, backroom, spring pad, ceiling obstructions, and slab conditions decide what track and operator options are realistic.

  • Opening width and height
  • Headroom
  • Side room
  • Backroom
  • Spring pad
  • Ceiling obstructions

Choose the door with the elevation in front of you

Stone, stucco, siding, roof color, window rhythm, and driveway view should guide the panel style and finish. The garage door is often too large to treat as a neutral detail.

Plan operator power and controls

Wall stations, remotes, keypads, smart access, jackshaft operators, and safety devices need power and mounting conditions. Waiting until trim-out narrows the choices.
