Broken right now

Stop pressing the button.

A door that bangs and goes heavy, hangs crooked, or stops halfway is telling you a spring, a cable, or a roller has let go. Every extra press moves the damage up the door. Leave it where it is, keep people and cars out from under it, and call us.

  • Broken springs and cables, doors off track, and doors that will not lift by hand.
  • Openers that hum, reverse, or work from the wall button but not the remote.
  • Damaged sections after a vehicle hit, and commercial bays stuck open overnight.

What people say

Don't take our word for it.

Twenty years of Grand Valley doors, and the reviews are right there on our Google profile — unedited, and not one of them written by us. Go and read them before you call anyone.

On price, the honest version: we're a Grand Junction shop with a truck and a phone. You are paying for the door, the parts, and the work — not a truck wrap, not a rebrand, and not craftsmanship spelled with a K.

So get two or three quotes. Compare the spring cycle rating and the labor warranty rather than the number at the bottom, and see where we land.

New builds and custom homes

Building? Settle the doors before they cost you a week.

Headroom, side room, opener clearance, finish, and lead time are all free to sort out on your plans and expensive to sort out after drywall. Send us the elevation and we will tell you what the framing has already committed you to.

  • Custom-home doors matched to stone, stucco, siding, trim, and driveway view.
  • Detached shops, RV bays, and estate garages scoped around use and clearance.
  • Openers, keypads, remotes, safety devices, and access planned before trim-out.

Commercial overhead doors

Work out what an hour of that bay being down costs you.

It is the number that decides everything else — the operator duty, the maintenance interval, whether spares are worth stocking. Tell us that and roughly how many times a day it cycles, and the rest of the specification follows from it.

  • Commercial sectional doors, operators, access controls, and maintenance planning.
  • LiftMaster opener and operator options for homes, shops, and commercial bays.
  • For major construction, settle permitting and electrical scope in the written quote before the bay schedule depends on it.

Services

Start with the job you actually have.

Each of these walks you through the decision behind it — repair or replace, now or later, door or opener — before it asks you for anything. Pick whichever sounds most like your morning.

Comparing quotes

Eight questions that separate one door company from another.

Two quotes for the same broken spring can be years apart in what you actually get. These are the questions that show the difference — ask them of us and of whoever else you call.

  • Will they look at the door before they price it? A firm number over the phone, before anyone has seen the door, is a number that changes in your driveway. Spring size depends on the door's actual weight and travel; a quote given without that is a guess with a revision built into it. Ask for the price after the look, and ask whether the look costs anything.
  • Do they quote the repair against the replacement? Replacement pays a great deal better than a spring change. That does not make it wrong, but it does mean the reasoning should be in front of you: which sections are damaged, what the door weighs now, how old the opener is, and what a repair actually buys you in years. If replacement is the only option offered on a door that still runs, ask why.
  • What spring are they putting in, and how many cycles is it rated for? Springs are rated in cycles — one open and one close. A 10,000-cycle spring on a door that runs six times a day is roughly four and a half years; a 25,000-cycle spring is a decade. Two quotes can look identical and be years apart in life. Ask for the cycle rating in writing, and be suspicious of anyone who cannot tell you.
  • Do they test the safety reversal before they leave? Every automatic residential opener sold since 1993 has to reverse when something is under the door. After any spring, cable, or opener work, the balance and both entrapment-protection systems should be tested and the result told to you. If nobody mentions safety devices on the way out, they were not checked.

Before you call

The things people ask us first.

My spring snapped and the car is stuck inside. What now?

Call (970) 201-5840. Meanwhile, stop pressing the button. With a broken spring the door's full weight is on parts that were never meant to carry it, and every attempt makes the repair bigger. Do not pull the release cord while the door is part way up. Tell us whether the door is up or down and whether a vehicle is trapped, because that changes what we bring.

What does a repair cost?

It depends on what failed, the size and weight of the door, and whether it can be moved safely when we arrive — so we will not invent a number over the phone. What we will do is look at the whole door, show you what failed, and give you the price before we start. You are free to say no at that point.

How do I know you are any good?

Do not take our word for it. Search Monument Garage Door on Google and read what Grand Valley customers wrote — same-day spring repairs, someone on site within the hour on a Sunday, and the word that comes up most often about our pricing is reasonable. We have been doing this here since 2006.

Are you cheaper than the other garage door companies in town?

Often, yes — and the reason is boring. We are a Grand Junction shop with a truck and a phone, not a brand with a marketing budget to recover on every invoice. You are paying for the door, the parts, and the work. Get two or three quotes, compare the spring cycle rating and the labor warranty rather than only the total, and see where we land.

Do you handle commercial garage doors as well as residential doors?

Yes — both. We install everyday residential doors and high-cycle commercial overhead doors, including C.H.I. garage doors and LiftMaster openers and operators. We match the door and operator to how the opening actually gets used, not just to its size.

Do you work on new construction garage door packages?

Yes. For new builds, the important work is early: opening review, door style selection, track and opener planning, and schedule coordination before final punch.

What service area does Monument Garage Door cover?

We cover Western Colorado and Eastern Utah from our Grand Junction shop — across the Grand Valley, up the Colorado River corridor toward Rifle, and downstream toward Moab. For the extended routes, call first so we can confirm timing and parts.

Are emergency repairs available?

Yes. Call (970) 201-5840 for stuck doors, broken springs, cable failures, opener problems, and exposed commercial bays, and we will tell you the soonest we can be there.

What should I send for a fast estimate?

Send the city, door size if known, a straight-on photo, opener photo if relevant, and whether the job is repair, replacement, new construction, commercial, or maintenance.

Do garage door projects require permits in Grand Junction?

Permit and contractor-license rules depend on project scope and jurisdiction. Grand Junction directs building permit and contractor licensing questions to Mesa County Building Department.

What should I ask before choosing a commercial overhead door?

Ask about door size, duty cycle, insulation, glazing, safety devices, operator type, access controls, emergency release, maintenance, and how downtime will be handled.
